This article explains how to create and save recipes for easy meal logging.


What Are Recipes?

Recipes let you add multiple ingredients and divide the total into servings for easy logging of home-cooked meals. You can also create recipes for meals you eat often to log them more quickly in the future.

How to Create a Recipe

All Lose It! users can manually create recipes in the app or on loseit.com.  

Lose It! App

  • Open the Lose It! app
  • Tap Profile (top right corner)
  • Scroll down to the Foods section
  • Tap Recipes

iOS

  • Tap + 
  • Tap Search for Ingredients
  • Name your recipe and tap Save
  • Tap Total Recipe Size
  • Select the number of servings and serving type
  • Tap Add Food and use the search tab to look up and add each ingredient
  • Once done finding all ingredients, tap Done
  • Tap Portion Size (under Nutrition) to edit the serving portion
  • Tap Done

Android

  • Tap Create Recipe 
  • Tap Search for Ingredients
  • Name your recipe 
  • Tap Total Recipe Size
  • Select the number of servings and serving type
  • Tap Add Food and use the search tab to look up and add each ingredient
  • Repeat the last step for all needed ingredients
  • When finished, tap Portion Size (under Nutrition) to edit the serving portion
  • Tap Save

Lose It! Website

  • Go to my.loseit.com from a web browser
  • Enter your email and password, or Sign in with Apple
  • Navigate to the sidebar menu and click Go To Lose It!
  • Click the Settings gear icon to the right of Messages
  • Click Recipes
  • Click New
  • Name your recipe and choose the number of servings and serving type
  • Click Save
  • Click Add Ingredient to search for and add each ingredient

How to Create a Recipe From a Meal

You can create a recipe from a meal you have logged to make it easier to log in the future. This feature is not available on loseit.com. To do so: 

Lose It! App

  • Open Lose It!
  • Tap Log
  • Tap the 3 dots next to the meal name you want to create a recipe for
  • Tap Add Meal to Recipes

iOS

  • Name the recipe
  • Tap Save
  • Make edits if necessary
  • Tap Done

Android

  • Name the recipe and make edits if necessary
  • Tap Save
