The Google Fit Connection Block
Google has implemented new restrictions on how third-party apps access Google Fit data. You may see a message stating that the app is blocked because it is trying to access "sensitive info," even if you have enabled all permissions.
Because this is a restriction on Google’s side, new connections or re-connections (after switching phones or reinstalling the app) may no longer work reliably.
This change is outside of Lose It!'s direct control.
If you have already attempted to reinstall the app and update permissions but Google continues to block the direct Google Fit connection, there is no further troubleshooting to override Google's security block. Health Connect is the required path forward for Android users.
Recommended Solution: Health Connect
Google is currently phasing out Google Fit in favor of Health Connect. This is now the officially supported and most reliable method for syncing fitness and health data on Android devices.
We recommend switching to Health Connect to ensure your data continues to sync accurately.
How to Set Up Health Connect
To transition your syncing to Health Connect, follow these steps:
- Install the latest version of the Lose It! in the Google Play Store
- Open the Lose It! app
- Tap Profile (top right)
- Find Automatic Tracking
- Tap Health Connect
- Follow the on-screen prompts to allow all necessary permissions

Using Google Fit with Health Connect
If you prefer to continue using the Google Fit app to track your activity, you can still do so by routing the data through Health Connect.
First, you must connect Google Fit to Health Connect so that Fit can pass data through the new system. You can find instructions on how to link the two apps in this guide.
Once Health Connect is set up as the intermediary, your steps and workouts should sync to Lose It! normally.
