This article will explain the Google Fit integration in Lose It!. Please note that it is no longer possible to connect or reconnect to Google Fit as of March 2026, due to Google ending support for the app. We recommend using Health Connect in its place.

Syncing Data Between Lose It! and Google Fit

If you have already established the connection between Fit and Lose It! prior to us retiring, you can continue to sync your data for the time being. Please note that once the connection is disabled, you will not be able to reconnect.

What Google Fit Sends to Lose It!

Steps + Workouts

This option lets Lose It! read your steps from Google Fit and turn them into a Calorie Bonus. Any steps beyond your daily estimate will be credited to your Exercise Log in the form of exercise calories. Premium users get a custom step goal updated with Google Fit steps.

Workouts Only

This option reads workouts from Google Fit. You'll need to manually track start and end times in Google Fit or sync workouts from another app or device. These workouts will appear as exercises in the Log tab of Lose It!.

Food and Nutrients

Food data from other 3rd party apps in Google Fit may appear in Lose It! if permission is given. Foods written from Google to Lose It! will have the Google Fit Heart icon next to their listing in your Log.

Weight

The most recent weight entry in Google Fit will sync over and update your weight in Lose It!.

How to Connect Google Fit

Follow these steps to connect Google Fit to the Android version of Lose It!:

Lose It! App

Android

  • Open the Lose It! app
  • Tap Profile (top right)
  • Scroll to Automatic Tracking
  • Tap View All
  • Tap Google Fit
  • Tap either Steps + Workouts or Workouts Only
  • Login with your Gmail account
  • Allow Lose It! to access your Physical Activity
  • Under Other Settings, select the additional data you would like to sync

Troubleshooting Google Fit

If you're experiencing issues with the integration between Lose It! and Google Fit, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

Backup Your Data

Lose It! Website

  • Go to my.loseit.com from a web browser
  • Enter your email and password, or Sign in with Apple
  • Navigate to the sidebar menu and click Go To Lose It!
  • Sign in and ensure your data (food logs) is syncing and stored online

Delete and Reinstall the Lose It! App

  • If your data is online, you can safely delete the app 
  • Restart your device 
  • Reinstall the Lose It! app

Reinstall and Reconnect

Lose It! App

  • Open the Lose It! app and log in using the "SIGN IN" option
  • Tap Profile (top right)
  • Scroll to Automatic Tracking
  • Tap View All
  • Tap Google Fit
  • Tap either Steps + Workouts or Workouts Only
  • Login with your Gmail account
  • Allow Lose It! to access your Physical Activity
  • Under Other Settings, select the additional data you would like to sync
